US Soldiers Kill Al-Shabaab Leader Behind Kenya Attacks

The US on Tuesday 25th February confirmed the killing of Al-Shabaab leader who has been facilitating attacks in Kenya, including a recent attack in Lamu where two US citizens were among the victims.

US airstrike in Somalia killed alleged senior al-Shabaab leader and his wife.

The report released to the media said the Al-Shabaab leader’s wife was also an active member of the group.

The air strike took place on Sunday 22nd.

“Post-strike assessments confirm the two terrorists killed in the Feb. 22 precision airstrikes were an individual associated with the attack on Manda Bay and his wife, who was also a known al-Shabaab member.

“The two terrorists were identified as a senior al-Shabaab leader, who was in charge of planning and directing terrorist operations on the Kenya border region, including the recent attack on Manda Bay, and his wife, who also was a witting and active member of al-Shabaab responsible for facilitating a wide range of terrorist activities,” US Africa Command said in a statement Tuesday, as quoted by CNN.

Al-Shabaab has been attacking Kenya from all points, and especially along the Kenya-Somalia border.
