Former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney says his former club will need three or at least two year to get to the top and compete for silverware.
Rooney who enjoyed a successful spell and Manchester on Wednesday said Manchester United should fight hard and book space in the next Champions League.
Rooney noted that the race for finishing among the top four clubs in the Premier League is tight but United to should give it everything.
He also urged United fans to be patient with the team and let the players do their best.
“It is going to take another two or three years, I believe. The Manchester United fans need to be a bit patient with what is going on and let these players try and prove themselves,” Rooney said, as quoted by The Guardian.
Rooney who is a player-coach at Derby County is set to play against united this Thursday night in the 5th rounds of the Emirates FA Cup.
He has said will celebrate should his name appear on the score sheet.
